rb 750g hardware ram upgrade

hi,
is it possible to replace ram chip on rb 750g from lame 32mb to 64 or more?
will board/cpu handle this? i cant find AR7160 technical specyfication

i know that i loose my varrianty but i like to experiment

get rb750gl http://routerboard.com/RB750GL

its easy way and i’ve alredy got spare 750g

well to be blunt - getting part, resoldering, getting device to work properly will be much more energy, time and money spent, than getting RB750GL. As little bonus, you will have Gbit ports  instead of FastEthernet 100Mbps that are currently sported by RB750.

urbinek has gigabit already  (RB750G)

are you saying that RB750G is only 100Mbit router :stuck_out_tongue:?

i know but it don’t have to be economical but 4fun and to me more specific for open-wrt, and for this i need a little bit more than 32MBram

however i cant find any chips to replace it ;/

oh, i have missed the G part then, sorry for that. RB750G has 5 1GBit ports.
anyway,750GL has 64MB of ram, according to routerboard.com

well yes it have, but i want to modify 750G bit to buy new one

Youi can try so sandwich same 32MB memory chip on with some chipselect logic.

And a 400MHz CPU instead of the 680MHz cpu in the RB750G

and a lower price also, to be fair.

I would be happy to pay $5 or $10 more for an old RB750G with 64MB of ram and a 680MHz cpu.
But ok, sure don’t mean to bash you guys, you sure have great products at affordable prices.

Well there’s always: http://routerboard.com/RB450G if you need both more RAM and the fast CPU. (and a microSD, slot, and a console serial port, and a Level 5 license, and more flash “disk” space, and …)

one rb750 and two rb450s with 64m hardware ram reported 32m by mikrotik software.

Memory size is hardcoded by mikrotik software, routerboot or “bios”

Well that is a firmware bug then, but the point remains that there are other products in their lineup at different price points if you need different capabilities.

I paid ~$75 delivered for a RB750G, if I needed an even more capable router, the RB450G would have been about $130 delivered (with a metal case and power supply) which is still a very reasonable price for that much capability.

Yes , it is possible to upgrade router board memory , I found the tricks.
