RB 751U

Hi All,

I have a quick question, I am trying to install the user manager package, on the RB 751U and am having no luck.

I have done the following.

  1. Copied the user-manager-5.14-mipsbe.npk to the RB, and the package appears under the Files List.
  2. I rebooted the router, as this is how the package is installed, when looking under the packages selection the user-manager-5.14-mipsbe.npk is not there ?

Please help

Thanks is advance.

Are you running 5.14 on your router?

Have a look in your logs, you will probably see an error message telling you User Manager not installed as the disk is too small.

To successfully run User Manager you need an RB with lots of available NAND capability or a microSD slot for additional storage.

Go to /system resources and it will show how much of the installed 64MB is available.

You may be able to use the USB but I do not think it would work too well except for testing purposes ? (any comments anyone ?)

The same issue applies to the Dude - it needs lots of storage.

You can run them on a RB751U-2HnD but they will consume your NAND storage and you will not be able to upgrade your RouterOS without deleting them.

Good question !!

Hi All

Thanks for the comments, and I agree with the storage space restriction etc, how ever
Surely the Ups package should not require that much space? I am
Battling to get that to work as well?

What packages are currently shown as loaded and how much disk space does /system resources show ?

Please note any packages installed (but not running) still take up space so uninstall anything you may not require like CALEA, GPS, LCD, IPV6, MPLS, ROUTING (BGP,OSPF) etc

Are you using Web Proxy ? This can also consume space ?

Hi,

All the “standard” packages are installed except for the UPS package which I require.

Under System/Resources It says that I have 40mb free space ?

The UPS package is under 1Mb ?

Do I have to enable a setting somewhere ? Should I reload the RouterBoard using Netinstall, with the selected package ?
