Hi Folks,
This is my first post on the forum. I couldn’t find answer for this.
Does the SXT 2 support 70 tablets connected simultaneously to it? The tablets does not need the max speed as they will be only using websockets on an Intranet Server and low traffic. My concern is this RB can stand stable as an AP to this amount of clients at the same time.
This RB will be connected to a RB 2011 through the Gigabit port and the server on another gigabit port bridged.
Is there some sort of formula to calculate the max amount of clients connected at the same time?
some users have reported issues with more than 10 clients like tablets and smartphones using sxt 2, but conditions of that tests wasn’t clear
i think specific conditions of the implementation are key for success or failure
i have test very dense wifi deployment using an rb951Ui with a max of 35-40 concurrent client devices connected to the access-point, the performance was stable, the maximum throughput i was able to obtain consistently with that concurrency was 15mbit per second and was queued accordingly
that dense deployment was indoor and using low tx power (8dbm-13dbm) using only 64QAM and 16QAM data-rates
the area of service of this an access-point was a empty yard of 72 square meters (6*12 meters) of open space surrounded by walls without sources of interference
users where standing on foot and using smartphones
My scenario is open field, 130 meters wide with devices varying in distance from 70 to 150 meters from the AP.
Interference in unpredictable because this field in not always the same. It’s a mobile infrastructure i move to different fields.
I used Ubiquity Nanostation M2 with 36 devices and it worked perfectly. But i was thinking to opt by Mikrotik because is better software when you think about multi SSIDs, vlans and now AP and client on the same device. I can use it with more than one config depending on my needs on that day.
