I am running a hotspot in a hotel of 500+ rooms and 160 access points and I have a stupid problem.
My RB 1100 (4.16) every 3 days and some hours (I haven’t figured out how many yet) hangs and the users can login to the hotspot but after that they cannot browse to the internet.
If I disable the hotspot everything is OK, users can browse but for free…
The solution every time it happens is just to reboot the router.
For now I have configured a scheduler but this is not a serious solution of course.
If you’re rebooting in the morning, reboot in the evening, manually of course, to see if it tracks a certain amount of time. Use another system to ping it constantly and let you know when it goes down. Have it send an email to you so you can know the exact time.
Without more information , I cant really impart any help, however, I can say that we have many RB1100 units in such situations with uptime running into the hundreds of days, using significant AP and VLAN deployments.
Some off the cuff questions:
Are you running out of DHCP leases? IS the IP Pool big enough?
Are you running one big L2 network, or splitting it using VLANS and bridge horizons?
Any client isolation on the APS? Any Ruckus Zone Director?
Managed switches with port isolation?
I have same problem occur everyday with MT 5.21 x86. when I disable and enable hotspot everything go right.
Can you help me write some script to enable and disable this hotspot everyday morning? so I can try resolve this error permanently later.
one hint:
when I keep my win xp with winbox running during night I come at the morning with hotspot is OK,
but when I switch off my pc the problem is occur and I find that MK hotspot is hanged and blocking the internet.
I have all my pc is bypassed in IP bind. I do not use walled gardian ip.
just anyone not listed in IP bind will have loging page. also I did DHCL make static ip to them.
but the problem is still every morning I have to disable and enable the hotspot
