[RB1100] NAT performance

Hi,

I need a 19" IPv4 router doing simple NAT (i.e. two interfaces, 1 public IP address, 2000 private IP addresses) and I need throughput. Real 1 Gbit/s would be great.
The router itself doesn´t have to do e.g. firewalling, so just NATing.

Well I found the RB1100U which price is simply great. Now the question, what about the performance? What throughput will I get?

thanks in advance
Michael

hi …

it supports 3.2Gbps total throughput

It does, but probably not using NAT. I would expect at most a Gigabit total traffic while NATing.

it is not tested as it is highly unreliable number and depends on how much new connections you have what is pps rate etc.

My estimate is that it consumes about the same amount of processing power as any other /ip firewall entry, like nat, mangle etc. And depends how many matchers you have in the rule.

And it should be capable to nat 1 Gbps.

thanks for the info. I wanted to order 4 pieces. But it seems I have to wait for months to get one, at least here in Germany…

yes, but the delivery problems are almost solved, early next year, you will be able to order any model again.
