RB1100 X2AH Bricked? USB to Serial Com Settings?

So I got this RB1100 X2AH, unboxed it, plugged in via ethernet and logged in via winbox.

I opened a terminal window and did a sys routerboard print → upgrade → y → / sys reboot.

The device never came back up. Just a long green light, then a short, long, short, repeating. After rebooting, same thing.

So I dug out my usb to serial cable, along with my female to female serial cable and tried a netinstall. Problem is Putty (terminal) doesn’t see anything after I do a reboot- nothing like “press any key,” which is usually what happens. NOTHING.

I have my usb to serial port set to 115200, data bits 8, parity none, stop bits 1, flow control none,

Seems like what I’m supposed to be using and my com port is correct otherwise putty would say connection failed right away.

Any ideas? Maybe my com port settings are incorrect, I hope so.

Have you tried forcing the backup bootloader?

Regards
Alexander

Yes, I have done that, but nothing after. Check it out.

Finally got it….

After holding the reset button during boot, I let it go and it prompts me to press any key.

Then I selected o, then e to boot from Ethernet and then exit. But…….

After I exit, I need to be holding the reset button down again and let the 2 second clock run out, then it boots from Ethernet.

Then Netinstall, then reboots holding the reset button down AGAIN, go in and set boot from nand.

Reboot without reset button and all is good now. Thank you guys for your help!

Have a good night!

I’m having this issue with a number of RB1100AHx2 routers.

I can avoid the issue by not upgrading the firmware but there is a concern that someone else might.
I can ‘resolve’ the issue once the problem has occoured by forcing the backup boot loader

I cannot however find a solution which makes firmware v3.10 available as an upgrade firmware on my router.

Is anyone aware of an actual fix to this issue? (I don’t want to go to v6.x yet)

Barry

We have the same problem. Is there a solution?
