I have purchased a RB1100 and have been trying to configure it as a switch with vlan and trunk port at are main hub where all backhauls, Accesspoints etc … meet. From this location it is one hop to are rb1000 and internet connection configured with vlans and pppoe. The RB1100 is currently running 5.0beta 4 and I have attempted to configure it as a switch by assigning master port for switch group1 [ether1] and [ether6] for switch group2. When I connect ether1 in switch group1 to are network I can not see the network on Switch group2 via neighbors and can not authenticat pppoe how do I configure RB1100 as a standard 10 port switch? I understand that the switch groups share a 1 gig connection to cpu . How do I configure trunk port ?
You need to bridge the 2 groups as far as I know.
Add a new bridge and then add bridge ports of ether1 and ether6
Hope that helps
Nick.
ok thx
I have bridged ether1 and ether6 and now have traffic passing between switch groups thanks for the info however I have now assigned vlans to ports 2 through 5, and 7 through 10 set to secure. Port 1 and port 6 currently have no vlans assigned and are set to fallback all traffic will enter and exit through port 1 which is connected to a routerboard 1000/ ISP configured with vlans and pppoe how do I configure port 1 as a trunk port. Do I add all vlans to port 1 ?
