RB1100AHx2 Stops responding to ping but passes traffic

Been having an ongoing issue with an RB1100ahx2 where it stops responding to ping or winbox MAC connections.

Right now it is set as a simple bridge and it passes traffic normally while having the issue. I am able to MAC telnet in with a neighboring Tik so that I can reboot the device, however this only temporarily fixes the problem and fairly soon it will stop responding again. This is also very intermittent and it does not always require a reboot for it to start responding to ping/management again. There are no messages in the logs indicating an issue and I have not seen a CPU or memory jump when this occurs.

Which firmware version? You can check it on System > Routerboard Current Firmware vs Upgrade firmware. Latest is 3.24.

If this is up to date, I’d try:

1.- Make an .rsc export of its config and store it on your computer.

/export file=PreviousSetup

2.- netinstall it to 6.36.4
3.- Reset to no defaults
4.- Reconfigure or reload PreviousSetup.rsc from step 1.
5.- Do not forget to set admin password

The firmware is indeed updated to 3.24.

The netinstall will have to wait until spring. Unfortunately access to the site is very difficult/expensive this time of year.

Another item to check is the internal power supply. It may be damaged (rarer). Do you power it using in built PSU, or via POE?
