RB1100AHx2 top rack router setup

I have just bought RB1100AHx2 and would like to use it as router/firewall in data center BUT i have no idea how to perform initial setup.. :open_mouth:

I have acquired few range IP addresses from ISP ie. 103.x.x.x/28

  1. By default the router IP is 192.168.88.1 on ether1 port should i set it to public IP for external access?
  2. The uplink cable provided by ISP should i plugin to ether1 or 2? By default ether1 will be WAN port right?
  3. I configured my laptop IP to 192.168.88.x and cable plug in to ether1 i can access to webfig GUI, when i plug in to port 2 i cannot access.

That’s a pretty open ended question, but here is a Wiki page on how to setup an initial configuration.

The Wiki also has several examples of firewalls that you may want to read up on. Tiktube has several videos on it as well. You may also want to post a simple of diagram of what you are trying to do with a little more info on how you want to set your router up.

I basically replacing L3 switch with RM1100 because i need the firewall and other features. :confused:

Check out the Downloads section of my website for a firewall. You will want to tailor to your own needs, of course, but its a pretty good firewall to start with. Let me know if you still have any other questions.
