RB1100x2AH NetInstall

I setup my RB1100x2AH and have things working great. I went to start adding VLAN for my private WiFi and I cannot for the life of me login. I must’ve typo’d the password when I set it up. Grrrr.

I downloaded NetInstall and have my Win laptop connected to Eth13 (Boot). I enter the local IP that I want to give it and NetInstall sees the RouterOS v6.35.2 that I have on my laptop.

Now comes to my question…I cannot find a reset button that I’m supposed to push when booting so it will boot via NetInstall. My CRS Switch has an easy to find reset button. The forums I’ve found state that the RB1100x2AH has a reset button but I cannot find it. Can anyone tell me how to get this to boot via NetInstall? Or, is there a way to do a hard factory reset since I cannot login via WinBox?

Thanks!

Looking at the manual, it shows a button on the board. Does that mean I need to remove the cover of the RB1100AHx2 to access the button?

You can do that, or you can hook a serial cable up to it and instruct the bootloader to boot via network that way.

What is this “serial cable” of which you speak? I haven’t used a serial cable in over 10 years. I don’t think I have one anymore. Lol. Thanks for the info!

RS232 lives on as an out-of-band management solution in the world of networking and embedded systems! If you plan to get into that world in any capacity, I’d advise you to get one.
