RB1200 performance on 5.11 firmware

We run meshed GRE or L2TP tunnels over 100-1000mbit fibre between a mix of about 20 750G, 750GL and 1200’s. On 5.2 firmware on the RB1200s, we consistantly get 100mbit+ performance across GRE tunnels terminating on the RB1200s. The L2TP tunnels between the 750GLs and the 1200s max out the CPU at about 50-60mbit.

As soon we upgraded the firmware on the RB1200s to 5.11, both L2TP and GRE performance dropped to 5-10mbit. CPU sits around 3% max on the RB1200s.

Downgrading the firmware to 5.2 again and the performance is back up to 100mbit+

Havent tried stepping up firmware revisions to narrow down the issue yet but may do as we would like to fis the port9-10 issues

Any ideas?

I recall another thread regarding a patch in v5.11 to address a port lockup issue. The thread claims resolution in v5.12 but that isnt int he release notes.

I personally have run into the v5.10 lockup issue so I updates and appear to be seeing the same performance hit on the ethernet ports. Waiting about a week to update to v5.12 (let you other suckers work out the bugs :wink: to see if that fixes the performance issue.
