[RB133] Failed to connect to <IP>, then Miktotik doesn't work

This is my first post here, so sorry if I may make some mistakes

I was upgrading a RB133 from 2.9 to 3.30.
After putting IP address and connect in RouterOS with Winbox, I started to upload 3.30’s files.

After a while, an error message popped, sayid :“Failed connect to ”.
I pushed “OK” button, and the session ended.

Now, when I connect the router, it no more appears in Winbox, and I can’t even ping it.

Tried to reset with the jumper and the button, but nothing happens.
Tried NetInstall, but router won’t show up in the interface.

I’m completely lost.
Any help would be appreciated.

RB133 has serial port, so if nothing else works, you can use that to see what’s going on.

I have tried using the serial port, and RouterOS showed up.

I actually have another problem.
After format NAND, I want to reinstall RouterOS with NetInstall.
Everything works great, until the installation process : NetInstall is “Sending offer”, the router is “Waiting for installation server”, and … Nothing happens.
After a while, NetInstall goes on “Installation failed : No response from Router timeout”.

Firewall and antivirus are disabled.


I am running Win7x64 with NetInstall for RouterOS v6.33.5.

Sorry, I don’t know much about NetInstall, I used it few times, it worked, end of story. No experience with troubleshooting, the only thing I vaguely remember is that something did not want to work when I just connected stuff to network. I used direct ethernet cable between RB and notebook and that worked great.

I got netinstall to work on a 532 but not a 133 that locked up after upgrading to 6.33.3.
I think the RB needs to use ETH 1 for netinstall.

Try forcing the PC’s NIC to 10 or 100 meg in case auto negotiate is causing a problem.
