Rb14 and power

what is the volts that the rb14 must get from the pci bus to work properly for 4 wireless cards
does the rb14 then reduce the voltage to 3.3volt for the wireless cards

thanks

I couldn’t find a data sheet on this but we had this on our web site (probably came from an older Mikrotik web site).

“PCI 3.3v and 5v support. Up to 2.5w of 3.3v power supplied to Mini PCI card.”

I don’t know if they have changed the design over the years but more power than that is needed for 400mW and higher radio cards. The description on our site warn’s you not to use high power radio cards with this. It looks like each slot has its own power regulator.

Tom

You are right Tom, but last two or three years RB14 comes with 3A regulator - that mean 1,5A ( 5W ) for each mPCI or 3A (10W ) for each if you use two wireless connected to own regulator. And of course RB14 support PCI bus without 5V.

so how many R52Hn cards can be used on the Rb14

My mistake, there is 5A power regulator. If you see 1084 label on power regulators you can use four R52Hn

Then why does the routerpc reboot with 3 x R52hn and when the one R52hn is replaced with R5h it works with no problems
can it be because they use the same irq for both R52hn?
or can it be not enough power even when we have 5volt 30 amps for the pci slots

Problems all over with these R52Hn cards.. They are menace, just as R5H was a salvation.
I have successfully managed to run 1 x R52H and 2 x R5H for quite some time in my RB14 until the whole setup was moved to RB600 with a daughterboard.
