RB192 + 2 x AR5212

This weekend i found my old Mikrotik RB192 when cleaning out my closet. Now i tried to build it up again and use it as my outdoor wifi access-point but yet without success.

RB192
2 x miniPCI wireless card AR5212

  • One interface configured as “station” connection to my Provider Wifi AP. (Client)
  • One interface configured as “AP Bridge” hosting an SSID for my outdoor users (With the outdoor antenna)

However when i select AES the link seems to be connected but no traffic is traveling over the link. When i select TKIP the AP Bridge is working. Clients get an IP from the DHCP on the Mikrotik and internet works. The AR5212 is supporting AES encryption so what is the issue with AES ?

Today i swapped one of the wireless card with a card i recovered from a HP AP420 access point it is also an AR5212 card but the difference is that this card is indeed working with AES encryption

The cards i bought in the past are equipped with an AR5212-ESI chip and the card from the HP AP carry an AR5212-A chip
