RB2011/CCR and 100Mbps SFP transceivers

Hi,
I know this has been asked previously, but I just would like to know if anyone found a compatible one.
Is there any 100Mbps SFP Single mode LC connector transceiver compatible with RB2011 or CCR1036?

Thanks,

Which actual Ethernet fiber standard are you trying to connect to?

e.g. We use SFPs in RB2011s to connect to 1000BaseLX10 systems.

Hi Celtic,
It’s 100BASE-BX.

In that case you need to know which wavelengths (1310/1550nm) the other end is using for RX/TX and get an adapter with the mirror of that. There are some suitable affordable SFPs on Amazon from 3Com & TP-Link. I have not tested those specific devices - and see threads complaining about the lack of support for 100 Mbps optical SFPs in the RB2011.

As far as threads in this forum, the official wiki, etc. go, there has never been a 100FX-SFP reported working in any available Mikrotik device.

I was also hoping the RB2011UAS would do 100FX, to replace our current fiber CPEs, but they don’t. By further research on the web I learned that indeed quite a few devices (mostly switches) by manufacturers like TP-Link, D-Link, CISCO et al. only work with 1.25Gbps SFPs. Often devices in the same series differ in such way the smallest one can’t do 100FX, while the bigger ones can.

This is pretty annoying as you have to buy a 16 or 24 port switch where you only need a (cheaper) 8 port switch (or in fact even less ports) with rackmount and SFP slot, though both belong to the same series.

I talked to a SFP dealer and customizer a while back and he told me a device should be able to handle both speeds as long as the controller chip supports SGMII. I checked the manuals of the Atheros AR8327 switch chip used in the RB2011 (and others) and it supports SGMII but I found hints that this feature has to be supported by the kernel module and maybe this is what is missing right now in ROS. But I’m just guessing here.

Like other I’d love to see MT devices support both speeds, because our carrier’s equipment can only deliver via 100FX to our customers right now, while gigabit fiber links remain reserved for upstreams, etc.

P.S.:
My support ticket (Ticket#2013081066000159, 10th of August) which I updated with information and questions from our SFP dealer / customizer was never replied to. We’d pay for better (timely) support but MT doesn’t seem to see a market here…

I don’t know why, but now it works (for me). See: http://forum.mikrotik.com/t/100fx-sfp-working-on-rb2011uas-w-ros-6-3/69344/1
