RB2011 direct DC connection (Battery)

Hi Guys,
Sorry if this is a duplicate post - i’ve been searching the net & forums for an answer on whether it’s safe to do the following.

Crude diagram :slight_smile:

Smart Charger <-----> Battery (105Ah 12vdc) <—> RB2011

I’d like to run an RB2011 directly off a 105Ah deep cycle battery that will be connected to a smart charger.
My country is experiencing prolonged load shedding, so we get ± 6 hours of grid power a day.
The RB2011 includes a GPON ONU.

I’ve seen a guide on youtube for a RB1100 that used a DC-DC converter - but in this case they were connecting via a power pack, not via battery direct.

Can anyone provide advice on this? I would really appreciate it - thanks!

The Routerboards have a wide power supply tolerance. The RB2011 has a 8-30 Vdc input specification so a 12v battery even with a charger is fine.

Just be sure to include an appropriate fuse between the battery and RB … 105Ah is awfully lots of energy to let run through RB after some shirt curcuit …

A fuse rated at approximately 2.5A should be fine.
