RB2011 PPPoE not more than 200 Mbps

Hello,
just got myself a gigabit PPPoE connection subscription and i don’t manage to get on speedtest more then 200 mbps.
With the GPON connected to the PC directly i get 400-410 mbps.

As settings for PPPoE i have a MTU of 1452, no firewall rules except the masquerading.
I turned off most of packages from the system also.

Any ideas what i am missing on this?

what kind of cpu usage are you seeing?

100%…*i think i know where this discussion is going.,)

Changed processor speed from 500 to 750MHz, speed went up to 270Mbps, how do i get the rest of the speed out of it?

Change the router?

See profiler what is blocking. I guess it would be the firewall. You should reorganise the rules, but don’t expect big effect.

If you need more you should choose more powerful device.

There are no firewall rules, just the NAT. And i think the mangle on PPP to 1412.

What would be a more powerful device in your opinion?

We tested RB2011 also and do not get more than 270Mbps with routing/nat.

RN850Gx2 http://routerboard.com/RB850Gx2
If you do not need more than 5 Ethernet ports.
or
RB1100Ahx2 http://routerboard.com/RB1100AHx2
or
CCR1009 http://routerboard.com/CCR1009-8G-1S

Exactly. For gigabit to be natted and firewalled you need at least 1100ahx2 or ccr.

crap…and this is the part when NATing your 15$ gigabit connection just got really expensive…

Thanks for the advices, i think i will consider the 850x2

When I select a device for router/nat/firewall role, I look always before buying unknown device at its performance table on the product page:
http://routerboard.com/RB2011UiAS-2HnD-IN
on last line, Mbps value in 512 byte column. This is for me the common expectable performance value.

Sure it is not exact or precise, but according to my experience it roughly corresponds to real situations. This value I also use to compare devices against others.

I suggest to all to have a look at it also before buying overestimated router.

As the performance table for 850gx2 is missing on the product page and I have no personal experience with it, I am in doubt if it is able to nat at 1gbps speed. Obtain the confirmation before buying again…

My suggestion is 1100ahx2 for you.

Thanks for the suggestion with buying smart, when i bought tthe router one year ago i had a 15/15 mbit connection with hopes up for 50 mbit, also, the only thing with a gigabit connection is my pc, so even the 5gigabit ports were supposed to be useless for quite some time.
