RB2011 unable to ping directly connected devices

Hi all,

So our RB2011UiAS is having issues pinging directly connect equipment. This started about 2 months ago when we implemented OSPF, which then failed as the OSPF peer couldn’t be reached over the interface.

The two offending interfaces and IPs are :

Ether1 : DHCP client 192.168.8.111–> LTE Router . 192.168.8.1 - Tried pinging it from the RB, timeout. Tried selecting the Interface, no difference. Checked the ARP table, the entry is present. Attached a screenshot. Further to this if I connect my laptop directly to the LTE router, I immediately get an IP address and am able to ping the unit.

Ether10 : POE with IP address 172.22.254.1/29 → Ubiquiti Nanobeam 172.22.254.2 - I can ping this but it is going via another path in our wireless network. I’ve attached the ARP screenshots and can see by the 3-4ms latency that it is not going direct to the Nanobeam.

If I put the Nanobeam into a POE injector and connect my laptop directly, then I can ping it with 0ms. Also checked the firewall, nothing in our filter rules about 172.22.254.2, accept it being on a “accept DNS” address list.

I suspect somehow our unit is / has gone faulty, but I hesitant to restore to defaults/restore from backup and stuff cause 1) we have many clients VPN’d to us and 2)Restoring the backup will “most likely” recreate the issue.

As a side note, I have removed all OSPF configuration / disabled the instance as well.

Any comments or suggestions on things to try would be appreciated.

Please post an /ip route print

Thank for your interest Pukitta, I got really busy in the afternoon and then later on just decided I would take a backup and reset to defaults.

Reset to defaults and it now works. Just the tedious process of rebuilding the router to where it was. Must have been a config issue somewhere…

I’ll see what happens on the next episode of OSPF… take more regular backups I think as well.

Are you using .rsc files for backups?
