RB2011UAS-2HnD-IN - LCD and COM

Hi,

I have few first units of RB2011UAS-2HnD-IN in my hands right now, but I can’t figure out few things, so naturally I have question listed below:

  1. Is there possibility to configure LCD from RouterOS? I looked everywhere in Winbox and failed to find any meaningfull option.
  2. Is it true to efficiently use touch-friendly LCD panel you need scriber? Why there isn’y any in box? Maybe there is something wrong with my hands..
  3. How to connect to COM port with RJ45? Any cable/schematics? May I use standard Cisco rollover cable?

Thanks and have a pleasant day.

  1. what do you want to configure for the LCD? check the “/lcd” menu in console. See manual: http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:LCD_TouchScreen
  2. works fine with my fingers
  3. cisco cable will work

Great!

Device looks good and sturdy. I’m impressed with build quality. Two more things that I could eventualy point out which I dislike about RB2011UAS-2HnD-IN is microUSB which should be normal full size USB for easy connecting USB HSPA modems and PSU shoudn’t be fixed for easy replacement. Still above average and this sweet price…must buy.

EDIT: It’s getting better and better. PSU is connected to normal jack inside (stupid me;) so it will take only few seconds to replace it.

I believe the touch screen is of the resistive type and not a capacitive type as most people are used to now a days. Try using your nail or other “pointy” object and see if that works for you. Of course don’t scratch the screen but actual registration is done by pressing two layers together instead of using electricity like on a modern smartphone.

Both techniques have their own advantages and disadvantages.
