RB2011UiAS-2HnD-IN high CPU usage on idle

Two RB2011UiAS-2HnD-IN units, different CPU Utilization on idle, both has default factory settings

What causes the other RB to use 6% CPU while the other is zero?

One have IPv6 enabled, and try to obtain IPv6 info on the net…

IPV6 package is not installed.

identical configuration side-by-side

i just didn’t make a new screen shot

You sure?

yes, it was installed, but i already removed it, I thought that was the cause too. the CPU still hitting 5~8%

Put on both same RouterOS (6.11) from routeros-xxxx.6.11.npk,
on both same bios [MikroTik call it firmware, but really is BIOS…]

empty file folder on both
and do on both:
(WARNING, OBLVIOUSLY CLEAR ALL…)

/system reset-configuration skip-backup=yes keep-users=no no-defaults=yes

Or better use netinstall 6.11 on both for install 6.7 and update bios to 3.14…

EDIT: BIOS 3.10 → 3.14

done that earlier.. upgradedto 6.11, firmware 3.12 - did a clean slate, removed some packages still cpu is high, then I reverted back to 6.10, firmware 3.12 - clean slate, removed calea, ups, ipvs, openflow packages.. still the same.

done the netinstall too!

I suggest you to use netinstall 6.11 + RouterOS 6.7 + BIOS 3.14:
http://download2.mikrotik.com/routeros/6.11/netinstall-6.11.zip
http://download2.mikrotik.com/routeros/6.7/routeros-mipsbe-6.7.npk
http://i.mt.lv/routerboard/files/ar9344_3.14.fwf

Make a try, do not cost anything…

And remember on netinstall to not keep previous configuration…

the 3.14 i have not tried. i only use the 3.12 that comes with 6.11 (i think) but still, it doesn’t make sense, both unit uses 3.12 firmware.

anyway.. will try the 3.14

Yes, the 3.12 come with 6.11,
but is better if you tru all the method I write before.

done the netinstall + 6.7 + 3.14 - still the same

turning OFF the LCD on one unit dropped the CPU to zero while on the other RB with 6.10 + 3.12 has the LCD turned ON and the cpu usage is 1~2% only.

reverted back to 6.10 + 3.14,

solved the problem, it was not from the package or firmware,

disabling and re-enabling the LCD 'Aggregate Traffic" dropped the cpu to 0-2%

probably a bug while RB is collecting stats for lcd display?

Thanks for sharing  It is interesting

The LCD keep settings on its own??? :open_mouth:

LCD have it’s own firmware?

no. i didn’t say that..

turning the LCD ON and OFF and re-enabling some stats seemed to fix the problem.

same stuff happen from time to time.
ran tools–>profile and saw that most load(spiked to 20% sometimes, but usually ~4% on 2011UAS and 951G)was “unclassified”
ocasionally found, that playing with (never used before)socks and traffic flow things - can solve them. probably they had some (hidden)defaults or so. or it was (equaly unsed)Web Proxy.
i guess there was some bugs in(code) of socks/trafficflow/webproxy or something alike.
why not move them to “advanced tools” package from “system”(and maybe all BTest tools, traffic monitor/generator, TFTP and probably SMB), and Web Proxy to “hotspot”, respectively, btw ?

Same problem on idle with no config cpu on 8% - 10% until lcd screnn is on…

I’m experiencing the same thing when lcd is on ~ 10% cpu load do not why  ros 6.12 / fw 3.14

Hi, I am studiying mikrotik, in MTCNA chapter 9, RouterOS Tools describes “idle” (I am traslating it) like: idle shows time when CPU isn´t working. It means idle =100% - (add all cpu processes use). It is normal, when i check the mikrotik where I work i get scared when i saw it… but two pages later i found the real anwer.
