I have searched the forum but I couldn’t find solution.
Today I bought rb2011UiAS-2HnD today for a small hot spot project.
But even build in basic configuration (WISP AP mode) I can not get enough wireless signal.
Router is near my laptop (on the desk) and i can only get -68db signal. Not only my laptop, my other wireless devices also almost have no signal from mikrotik. Signal almost reaches 5-6 meters away. That’s all.
İn the inSSider screenshot, SSID KATMANDU is in the same room with mikrotik and laptop. It is a cheap tp-link AP. Other SSID’s are my neighbors. (Living in an apartment building)
Could you set frequency mode to “regulatory-domain” and Country to your country. And on the HT tab, select all chains as TX and RX and on the TX Power tab to default and see what your signal is?
Did you upgrade your routerboard firmware while upgrading to RouterOS 6.12?
If that doesn’t work, maybe you could open the box (a few screws and a hinge) to check if the antenna connectors are properly connected? Maybe try disconnecting and reconnecting them to be sure? Be carefully not to bend the cables to tightly while doing so.
Hopefully that fixes your problem, if not, you probably do have a hardware issue.
I opened the device last night. Nothing seemed wrong. Connectors seems little bit loose but I am not sure how it was supposed to be.
I pushed them gently to fix just in case. But they are not close fit like pcmci type wireless cards antenna connectors.
( And of course router was unplugged. @jarda )
Device has ROS 6.12. And I checked and try almost everything include HT settings. BG mode only 20 Mhz , Fix TX 30 Dbm etc..
Ok, good! Yeah, if you checked all those things (and always disconnect the router when you are messing with antenna of course) it’s probably a broken radio. Good you got it sorted!
