RB230 hangs at starting services

Have a RB230 that has been working for a little over a year and just stopped working. Hooked up a serial cable and found that it hangs at “Starting Services”. Nothing was change prior to this problem.

Found a thread about same problems with RB500’s and followed some of the solutions to that problem.

Things I’ve tried.

  1. Upgraded bios to latest release.
  2. Compact flash and Net Install of latest 2.9(2.9.23)
  3. Compact flash and Net Install of 2.9.19
  4. Compact flash and Net Install of 2.8.28

After trying all of these, I am getting the same problem. Does anyone have any suggestions of what else to try or is thing done?

Could you try another null modem cable ?

MAC-Winbox is alternative way to access MikroTik RouterOS with empty configuration;

download the latest Winbox,
connect router to the same network with PC,
run Winbox and put router ‘MAC-address’ to ‘Connect to’ field,
or even run network discovery tool (three dots in Winbox loader Window) to discover network and find out running MikroTik Router.
