RB260GS and S+85DLC03D (10G) SFP+

Hello folks,

Looking at Mikrotik SFP Module compatibility table (http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/MikroTik_SFP_module_compatibility_table) I see that the RB260GS and S+85DLC03D are compatible, although the RB260GS is equipped only with an SFP cage, not a SFP+ one.

Is this a glitch or are they truly compatible?

I will have a CCR1009-8G-1S-1S+PC at the other end, equipped with another S+85DLC03D in the SFP plus cage.

Do you now if, with the right fibre (Multimode duplex OM4, 50/125) between the CCR1009 and the RB260GS:

  • I will get 10Gb/s? (One can always dream…)
  • I will get 1Gb/s? (more probably)
  • I will have wasted a lot of money because it will simply not work?

(Note: The goal is ultimately to replace the RB260GS by a 10Gb/s capable routerBOARD, like another CCR1009 or something, but I simply don’t have that kind of money right now, hence the question above).

Any inputs appreciated!

Thanks,
Sylvain.

Even if are compatible the lower speed device will dictate the maximum speed in the link, in this case RB260GS wich is not sfp+

So can you positively confirm that it will work at 1Gb/s?

I’m waiting on positive confirmation to pull the trigger and order the 2x 10Gb/s SFP.

Sylvain.
