RB260GSP with EnGenius AP's

Howdy all!

I’ve stumbled across the RouterBoard hardware and am excited to buy some to play with. Does anyone know how the RB260GSP behaves with Engenius Access Points over PoE?

Specifically, I am looking at the EAP600 and EAP900h, which are both 802.3af / 802.3at PoE AP’s. I understand using the RouterBoard passive PoE can be “hit or miss” with 802.3 hardware. It would seem that the power requirements (wattage) are met, but I’m unsure if these access points will run off the 24V from the RB260GSP.

If this will not work, can someone recommend a small 802.3 PoE switch to power 3x EAP900 access points? I would prefer to do my entire system with RB hardware, but I’m not sure if that’s possible.

Thanks in advance.

RB260GSP is not 802.3af/at compliant as it is operating in 12V to 28V range.

thank you for the reply janisk

Can you recommend any PoE AP’s that are compatible with 24v passive that the RB260GSP outputs? I am looking for dual band, vlan capable, and high-power AP’s.

I could just get a 3rd party 802.3af gigabit switch, but I’d prefer to stay with RB / Mikrotik hardware
