I have this customer who need a new router and 6 ap´s via CapsMan. The company staff; about 30 persons.
Is the RB3011 enough or do they need a CloudCore Router?
It can handle 100Mbps (depending on rules), or it can handle much more depending on packet size. Scroll to the bottom here. How much Internet service are they paying for?
I think they are paying for 100Mbps. But I wonder if this RB3011 is for small company use? I have one in my home and lots of them at my customers homes (for home automation)
and I like them a lot.
I have used an RB 750 for a small company in the past without any issues for testing purposes. I have seen them used for a small Wisp. It worked fine but once you start adding more complex firewall and queues it quickly becomes under powered. Now when I am getting ready to install something for a small company I like to discuss with them what they would like to do now. What services they need to run, firewall, queues, vpn. Do they need to have a network monitoring tool (The Dude) Then I look at their connection is it 10 mbps, 100 mbps. Are they likely to upgrade to gigabit within the next 5 years. I also look at whether they need a redundant power supply. Once I have done this I size the equipment accordingly. Sometimes for the sake of 100 dollars you can attempt to future proof their network.
