RB3011 - SFP not working - hardware defect?

Hi,

i try to connect my RB3011 to a switch by cisco sfp fiber modules:

My switch shows link, the mikrotik not. Changed fibercable and sfp. nothing helps.
When i plug in the sfp the mikrotik becoms unreachable on all (not only switch 2) ethernet ports. then i have to reconnect the lan cables. Sometimes 10 times till i can access the switch again. Sometimes i have to reboot.
Confugration is default.
FW is 6.42.7

May i got an defective rb3011? i just ordered it.

Or you have to use Mikrotik SFP Module!

Have you correct SFP modules for send and receive? normally blue and yellow bars on them

Blue and yellow is generally if you are using BiDi SFP’s to denote which end you have used.

I use Cisco GLC-SX-MM with no issues on my RB3011 so there is some evidence they “may” work. Have you got another SFP which is known as working to test with? Does the SFP work in other devices?

No. There is always some chance you have a module that is incompatible, but it certainly isn’t a must to have only MikroTik modules.

I have 6 SFP modules from various vendors and none of them work in rb3011. They work in all my other network equipment. i will try to replace the rb3011.

Sorry to say that unless they are MikroTik modules you will not get much support. You should always use the correct module per device rather than in pairs though if that helps?

When the replaced rb3011 has the same issues i will order a mikrotik sfp. i’ll keep you updated.
