Sold out in spain and czech republic, I am starting to get really concerned because besides this one and core routers (too expensive, I prefer a regular pc) , all other mikrotiks are out of date, they are not able to manage a 300/300 fiber line imagine a 1Gigabit line
Other RB should be fine at 300/300, are you using FastTrack?
I agree that a few product lines are due for a refresh to keep up with the increasing speeds, moving to multicore CPU’s across the board would be a good move by Mikrotik.
In Spain almost all cities have 300/300 for 60 euros, and big cities like Barcelona, Madrid etcetera already have 1Gb/1Gb. It’s true, you can use fast track but for me is not the solution: We need Nat, QoS, different routes … Unfortunately not so old routerboards can’t manage this.
I completely agree with you @nz_monkey: a multi-core it’s a must nowadays
RB3011 is insanely popular, I guess because it has 10 gigabit ports at a cheaper price than RB1100 or CCR1009 which would be the closest alternatives.
We are working hard to meet demand, a new manufacturing batch is on the way, so distributors will get the new stock in order of their purchases.
For WISPs - it’s not just speed/price (which I agree, is great) - it’s speed/price/physical form factor - smaller being better.
Janis (support) said the small form factor (non rackmount) 3011 was immanent at the US MUM. Obviously, it’s been a long time with no small form factor 3011.
Are you just going to try to catch up on RM3011 backorders or is there some hope of a small form factor 3011.
Several WISP’s I consult to are in the process of replacing literally hundreds of RB2011’s and RB493’s with RB3011’s. The main hold up being availability.
