I configured 2 RB3011s over the past 2 days for completely different purposes. One of them I was using for receiving a static route, the other I was using as a NAT router with DUAL WAN for a bunch of Wi-Fi access points, and some wired clients.
In both, I had a need to create bridges in order to create separate broadcast domains. In order to use the simple queue feature on one of the routers, I enabled the option “Use IP Firewall for Bridge” on one of the bridges that I had created.
I similarly enabled the option for a different reason on the other router. Both of these two routers were connected to Gigabit WAN networks, but after I enabled this option, I can only pull about 20 meg x 4 meg… and I occasionally encountered packet loss.
As soon as I turned this option off, I was right back at nearly a Gigabit.
Does anybody know why this would occur and / or if there is some better way to accomplish what i am trying to do? I did not have any active firewall rules for either of these routers.
Thanks,
Hexis
