Hello,
I’m new to RouterOS. By reading manuals and topics I got my RB3011 switch to the state of “partially working”, but I’m not sure if I misconfigured something that allows unwanted connections.
I have 2 Networks:
Home 192.168.0.x (internet-router and DNS 192.168.0.2)
Hotspots 192.168.1.x (router with own DNS for clients 192.168.1.2)
Ports on RB3011:
1 inactive (would be WAN which is not necesary)
2-5 switched (hardware) for network 192.168.0.x
6-10 switched (hardware) for network 192.168.1.x
I don’t want any connection between the 2 switchgrous. My management PC has 2 network cards, each plugged in in one of the switch groups
Anyway, I plan to install The Dude so that it can monitor devices in both switch groups and send alerts by Email over a server (internet connection would be over router 192.168.0.2 in switch group 1)
The Dude should be reached over network 192.168.0.2 (only LAN, not over internet).
IP addresses of the rb3011:
192.168.0.252 (switch1)
192.168.1.1 (switch2)
Currently working;
- I can reach the Router OS via both IPs (switch1 and 2, see above).
- I can ping devices in both networks
Not working:
- No internet connection for RouterOS (DNS should be 192.168.0.2)
- If I plug cable from network-card 192.168.1.x into switch with network 192.168.0.x and vice versa, I still can connect with both IP addresses, but I don’t want that. Do I need firewall settings for this?
My configuration:

I didn’t install the dude yet - that is no problem but I first want the 2 seperate switchgroups working.
Can anyone tell me waht I did wrong?
I guess the bridge setting is wrong, but deleting the bridge would disconnect me from the CPU/RouterOS?
Greetings
Alex
