we just got some RB3011UiAS-RM, and we have some problems with connecting the power connector.
The problem is that the power jack is too far from the enclosure, and the plug can not go inside enough to provide stable contact.
The only solution we could end up with is to use Mikrotik HighPower (1,6A) power supply (or regular 0,8A if you don’t intend to use PoE out feature of RB3011), or drilling a wider hole on the enclosure. The power supply that comes with RB3011UiAS-RM is not compatible with the RB3011 itself.
This is a model from a new batch, I don’t remember we had these problems with older models.
from the photos i judge it’s the markings on the L-shaped power jack that keeps it from penetrating deep enough.
if so, it may sound silly, but this can be fixed with some sandpaper
and i agree with Normis, the power cable “stress relief” hooks should be used if installed for production use.
Whatch out on that cable, I wrote last week on forum about issue I had and only Netinstall helped. It was so loose that in some point router start Off/On/Off/On… Solution is: loose all screws and move board as far as possible from power cord - so just push board to ethernet ports (it’s just 1mm or not even). Then tight screws again, push power cord using force, the rubber around connector will fit in metal case, you will even hear characteristic sound, then like normis wrote use cable management. That way cable is properly attached and it’s not loose.
