i recently got a job to establish a linux gateway server and private cloud and the people who hired me telling me that they have issues with their networks. they have 3 cloud routers acting as switches attached to them 66 IP cameras and 20 pcs and printers and 6 mikritik AP in 3 levels and all connected to RB3011UiAS-RM router which act as a gateway. the router configuration has 2 bridges, one for the pcs and cameras and it has its own DHCP server pool and the other bridge has the wireless ap with another subnet and another DHCP server pool. the whole network keep disconneting from time to time especially the wireless ap which is connected to POE switch in each level with the cameras. the RB3011UiAS-RM router has the eth06 blinking with no cable and i try to reset it multiple times and reinstall software and still blinking after that. is the router dead??? or what is the issue. thx
I have to bump this topic since i have been waiting for it to be posted for 2 days hope any one can help me out on the next step i should do?
This is not a manufacturer support forum, it is a user forum for exchange of information.
For product support contact your supplier or mail to support@mikrotik.com for software issues.
A known problem of the RB3011 is that it does not work correctly when port speeds inside the
switch groups (port 1-5 and 6-10) are mixed, i.e. some ports at 100 and some at 1000 Mbps, and
the 100 Mbps ports are fully loaded. You need to avoid that condition until this is fixed.
I would replace the RB3011. Most likely the switch chip has a fault in it.
I recently had a similar experience with an RB2011 connected to a tower that took 2 lighting strikes with 10 minutes. Ether6 stopped passing traffic and after I moved the cable to ether7 it was back working for a while. Then I noticed some issues going out to the internet and when I looked at the RB2011 it was showing traffic going in and out both ether 6 & 7. I was able to just disable ether 6 until I could replace the router.
thx for the reply i just want to get some feedback from users about this since this router has no support in my country and cannot get services for it.
so i just want to see if my guess about being damaged right or wrong ![]()
Depends on your configuration, most likely in your config ether6 is master port. Master port will always be on as long as there are link for any of its slaves.
but i have only 2 port connected eth01 which is wan and eth02 which is connected to the other switch. so by default the ports would be masters or slaves? i also mention that i did reset the router and the eht06 was blinking with no cable attach to it??
And as I mentioned master port will have link as long as one of its slaves has link.
If ether6 is not master in your configuration then contact support with attached supout.rif file.
thx for your information but the eth06 is a slave interface and here is the configuration of the bridges and the interface window
