RB333 DHCP from Cable Modem

I picked up the new RB333 for some testing to see how well it would perform against the current AP I use.

Setup

Cable Modem w/DHCP enabled ------- eth1 RB333 wlan1 >>>>> Laptop

----- = Cat5 LAN connection

= Wireless connection

I set eth1 on RB333 with static IP from modem and I can connect with ssh and winbox from desktop on same modem. I set wlan1 as ap-bridge and I can see the SSID with my laptop but I can’t seem to be able to get cable modem pass an IP to the laptop through the RB333.
If I setup DHCP on RB I can connect and surf internet just fine, but my goal is to have the modem pass IP to my laptop.
This works fine with my other d-link AP I have, what am I missing?

Set up a “bridge” in the RB with the Ethernet port from the Cable modem connection and your wireless card “wlan1” I assume. This will pass DHCP from your cable modem.

you want the public IP of your cable modem to be the IP of your laptop??

OR

do you want your router to give your laptop a IP address, via DHCP, and then share that one public IP of the cable modem?

we need clarification on what you are doing…

Modem has IP from ISP 71.xxx.xxx.xx, Modem has DHCP 192.168.15.0/24

I would like for the cable modem to pass IP from DHCP 192.168.15.0/24 to laptop and other wireless devices through the RB333 AP

then you have to bridge your AP and eth1
