The 2 test rb333 arrived yesterday, now i try to configure it.
with rb532 (115200 8N1 flowcont off) good serial settings the serial communication is very strange.
All chars display correctly if come from routerboard, but any key sending with keyboard somtimes altered
a → d i->n etc.
I try with minicom 2 machines, and hyperterminal.
Anyone could confirm this bug?
Hello i try 3 different cables 2 different boards (in 2 version of os (rc1, rc2) on 3 different computer, 2 different serial communication software on different os (minicom, hyperterm). All same.
I made some research in this question - I have no problems with Null modem with loop back handshaking cable.
I was surprised - how complicated can be simple null modem cable…
As a distributor, I did receive this from Mikrotik shortly after receiving our RB333 boards. This was for the Pre-Production Batch.
RouterBOARD 333 serial console application note
This applies to RouterBOARD 333 only.
Some valid Serial Null modem cables may not work with RB333, many others following the
standards will work fine. In case your cable does not work, the serial connector pins number 1 and 6
should be removed with pliers to enable various standards compliant cables to work. Hardware
Flow control should be disabled when connecting to the device.
Alternatively you can open up your serial cable and disconnect the wires that go to the pins 1 and 6.
All serial cables that have been shipped with MikroTik products will work without any
modifications to the board or cable.
Nice. Mikrotik hides this information from endusers. Normis says “try another cable”.
MT! Please share some office information
Witch cable recommend to r333?
2, Why not work the (correct) cable that works with rb532?
3, Plan to change anything in rb333 to works with most null modem cables?
Correction, this information was sent to companies that bought the RB333 before we corrected it for other devices here in stock. If you have a RB333 that is not fixed, you also have this information.
Ahham. We get two rb333 to test, and not receive the notification above, when i write the topic you answer: try another cable, but you known the device may not correct. And now we get another 2 test device, witch have a big solution: 2 serial pins cut-off from the board. I you share the information, i will not s_ck two hours. Dont mind…
But now :
Dear users:
if you have routerboard 333 with serial db9 father and all pins on the connector your null modem cable may not work (makes random transfer problems)
if you have rb333 with serial connector (father db9) cut-off pins your cable works good, if not you may have another problem(computer , injured cable, configuration, etc) but not with rb333
I droped this down for a time. Thought it’s my fault it doesn’t work.
But now: I can’t open any of the serial cables i have, they have “full”, sealed connectors.
If i remove the pins 1 and 6 on rb333 should this void the warranty on the boards ? MT anybody ?
(No, I have not recieved the notice from the distributor, I think I have one of the first 333 boards they got from you.)
