RB400 - Slow Winbox Screen Updates, Will Not Reboot/Shutdown

We have logged into two remote RB400 routers (V6.33.3 OS/ FW 3.24; both current) using Winbox V3 and found the following (among many other issues):

Quick Set screen would not populate (blank)
IP Firewall Filter Rules/Nat /Service ports, etc. screen not populating
Specified filter rules either grayed out, or their Input Interface set for “unknown”
Reboot or shutdown ineffective

One caveat is that sometimes the screen would eventually populate (several minutes later) and a reboot/shutdown would finally be acted upon tens of minutes after I applied them.

One we remove and reapply DC power, they sometimes come up in same condition, other times running fine and a little slow. But in all cases, shutting the router down through a reboot or shutdown command, and powering back up seems to resolve the issue. However, we will give it more time to see if in fact these units behave over time.

In one case we lost the ability to long in remotely, although this usually works.

Both remote sites operate on commercial/utility power with no backup power, so they often are powered down without a formal shutdown. However, these same routers did not experience this over the past two years until several recent OS updates likely after about 6.24 and a FW update (FW had been 3.19? or close).

We have one of these in the lab now and are watching it. Any ideas would be helpful.

Have you tried to reset the device to its default config yet?

I had a CCR with similar issues, address lists, filter rules and nat rules not showing, even if you try and print the config via ssh connection.

Resetting and restoring a backup when the device was still 100% solved the issue for me

CCR? But yes. That did seem to take are of it. But I would like to know what the root cause was…
