RB4011 Slow-ish Routing is this normal?

I’m routing in and out(router on a stick) of the 10Gb port on an RB4011 and only seeing around 2.23 Gbits there is no NAT involved and no filter rules involved in the test but there are some configured on the router.

Rule of thumb, applied to official test results, says RB4011 is capable of routing around 2.5Gbps in real life. Give or take. The number is indicative for ROS v6 (RB4011 was introduced and benchmarked in v6 era), routing speed when running v7 is considerably lower due to architectural changes in underlying linux kernel.

So I’d say you’re getting what you paid for. There might be some room for improvement, but impossible to tell without knowing your use case and exact router configuration.

Thanks, that’s perfect and it’s currently well more than I need I wanted to make sure I wasn’t throttling it by doing something silly

It puts partial and not total FastTrack in the Firewall Filter pointing its Internet Link as input and output internal network and then internal network as input and its link as output. So it won’t interfere with Queue rules to reduce cpu load
