RB4011iGS+RM Internet stops after a few days

Hi,

I am experiencing a weird issue on my RB4011iGS+RM. I am using my eth1 port for internet access (ip by ISP provided automatically). Internet works for a few days then it suddenly stops. Local network is working but no internet access on all the devices in the network. If I plug the cable from eth1 port to my laptop internet works so it is not connected with my provider (it seems). If I plug it back to my router nothing happens until I restart the router manually. Any ideas what could be the issue?

I have checked the logs of the router but nothing is happening during that particular time. I have also tried to use quick config but results are the same it works for a few days then I need to reboot.

Any tips are welcome

Thank you

When your internet stops, instead of rebooting your router, login to the router and open a terminal.. from terminal try to ping your ISPs router Lan IP.. do you get a reply? If yes then try to ping an external IP, lets say 8.8.8.8, do you get a reply? If yes then your router has internet and the problem is somewhere else..

Also you use a dhcp client on your router right? What is the status of dhcp client when you dont have internet?

Hi,

I tried to ping ISP router lan that was ok. Ping to 8.8.8.8 did not work.
DHCP client was up and status was bound.

Not sure what to do next.

Thanks

No its not ok… you ping your ISPs lan IP which is 192.168.0.1 and you get network unreachable…

That is a response from 192.168.0.1 about the 1.1.1.1

Please run /export hide-sensitive and post it.

My mistake.. XVO any suggestions for the actual problem instead of correcting me for somerhing obviously i didnt see?

.. anyways most probably you are blocked by your ISP…
The error is net unreachable, this means you are able to route your traffic correctly, otherwise you would get “no route to host” however you cant reach that destination… test your mikrotik to another ISP, thats what i would do so i can be sure…

Most likely problem is on ISP side.

What would you guess? Maybe the ISPs router sends packets with TTL = 1 so that they canot be routed again?

The fact, that the problem appears after a few days, makes me think, that something goes wrong when router tries to renew dhcp lease.
Anyway, if that’s on ISP side OP should try to contact them in the first place.

Hello,
I had similar problems when upgraded to 5.45.6, had to revert to “long term” and restore backup before 5.45.6.

Hope it helps
