Hi, I have a RB411 with routerOS v3 and I need to use it as WiFi Client. I have an access point and I want to wireless connect to it with the RB411 and then have internet on RB411 ethernet.
I try to follow this https://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Connect_to_an_Available_Wireless_Network but not work.
Can you help me please?
Thankyou for your answer.
Please can you help me to do the upgrade? I’m really new in mikrotik world.
I must do an incremental update or directly to the last OS version? I must update only the routerOS or also the routerboot firmware?
follow instructions from wiki page. And be really careful to follow them as closely as possible. Netinstall is very fragile process and can fail if things are not exactly as expected
I read the wiki but it not specify what version of ROS I must choose, or if I can update directly to last version or I must do an incremental upgrade.
And I need to upgrade also the firmware?
If you upgrade using netinstall, then it doesn’t matter … the unit will be formatted and new version will be installed. Following some upgrade versions is only important if one wants to keep configuration so upgrade scripts convert running config into appropriate form (a process known to fail sometimes). And I strongly advise against keeping config on such an ancient device … very likely things (firewall in particular) were done non-optimally.
Yes, after you install and successfully run modern ROS, by all means upgrade routerboot as well …
Sorry my English is very bad, I not understand good so I want to be sure to do all correctly. Do you mean I first must upgrade ROS and then I can upgrade firmware. Is it correct?
Ok I upgrade ROS to last version and with quick set it was a piece of cake to make it work.
Thank you so much.
Now do you think I must upgrade also firmware?
It is recommended to do so. Navigate to “System → Routerboard” … likely “Current Firmware” shown is something like 2.xx or 3.xx … and “Upgrade Firmware” will be same as ROS version. So click “Upgrade” button. It will instruct you to restart RB after firmware flash is finished.
