RB411 Help needed for Setup of FTP and Portforwarding

Hi to All,

Please help me with the setup of the router to use with my FTP Server.

I’m using a RB411 Router with panel connected to my WISP, I have a external IP 41.57.17.112 that I want to use to connect to my PC or FTP Server.

My setup are as follow.
Mikrotik from outside with IP 192.168.0.1 connected to my Netgear Router RP614v4 to Supply more then four IP’s starting at 192.168.1.1 and I have a Wireless Router connected as a access point for all my other Wireless devices.

My problem is that if I type my external IP in the URL I get to my routerBoard’s Web access, I need to reroute that IP on the Mikrotik to access my FTP server on 192.168.1.2 Who do I go From here.

I also need to forward some ports: TCP 5200, UPD 5198 and UDP 5199 ?

Thank you in advance.

Am I correct in understanding that the netgear is connected to the internet with IP 41.57.17.112, which NATs to the RouterOS which has 192.168.0.1, which routes to the network behind it which holds the 192.168.1.1-192.168.1.4?

You say you need to access ftp, but you also talk about web access; are you perhaps connecting to your FTP server using a web interface, or are you using a web browser to access your ftp?

If you are using Internet Explorer to excess your ftp, don’t! Use Windows Explorer instead. Simply open any folder, ensure you have the address bar visible, then type in “ftp://41.57.17.112/” or “ftp://username:password@41.57.17.112/”. I suggest you test connectivity from a system outside your network first (e.g. remote desktop), so you will test the internet->ftp routing and not any internal routings. If that succeeds, try internal as well and solve problems as you go.

About the FTP server… FTP has active and passive modes and may require you to set your internet IP in the FTP Server software to work properly. Also, FTP uses more than port tcp:21. You also have tcp:20 and a range in the 5- or 6000. Please check your FTP server settings to make sure you are natting all the ports required.

Hi Niels,

Frist of all, Thank you for replaying to my post.

OK Let me start from the point, I’m using my Mikrotik router to connect to my wisp ( Wireless internet service provider ) supplier, then my mikrotik
is connected on my netgear router. My Mikrotik router supply IP addresses 192.168.0.1 onwards but now it can only supply me with 4 IP’s and
I needed more thats why I have connected it to my Netgear router’s wan Port now it only use one IP from my Mikrotik 192.168.0.250 and I can supply all 8 PC’s, Wii and Notebooks.
my Netgear router supplying IP’s 192,168.1.2 - 192.168.1.50 and then I have a Tenda wireless router only connected to the Netgear as a access point for all the wireless devices.

My external IP is 41.57.17.122
my IP on the Mikrotik 192.168.0.1 ( IP used with winbox )
Netgear Router IP 192.168.1.1
Tenda Wireless Router 192.168.1.200

My FTP Sever software is Serv-U and works internally on IP 192.168.1.2 and can use it from any PC in house, there is a other guy that
gave me this string to apply …
/ip firewall nat

add action=dst-nat chain=dstnat comment=“Na FTP server” disabled=no \

dst-address=41.57.17.112 dst-port=21 protocol=tcp to-addresses=\

192.168.1.2

Now on the mikrotik I can see there is activity when the external IP is typed in as ftp://41.57.17.112 but gives me time out.

I also need it to use the TCP 80 or 8080 to connect to the WEB access of Serv-U and not only FTP. I want my friends to upload and download from it.

I do not have good knowledge of the Mikrotik Router, just enough to get a connection going to a access point. I also have tried the same why you told me to
try and with no luck.

You can even try typing my external ip in you browser http://41.57.17.112 you will receive my mikrotik web access page, I need it to go to my PC to access my FTP server.
