RB411AR wireless interface missing

Hi

In a last few days I’ve noticed one problem with one of my RB411AR boards. After some time all wireless interfaces are missing. Both built-in and AR5413 based one. Software reboot does not help. It starts working again when I turn off power supply, and turn it on again. Heat problem? Any ideas what’s going on?

Make a supout.rif file while the interfaces are missing. Then send it to support. Make sure you are running RouterOS v4.10 or v5beta4

OK, I’ll.

Some months ago one of mine 411ARs lost all PCI info: built in card & any other PCI card I plug at the empty bay. It was in production for 6 months then, a XR9 using the mini-pci slot and the built in card as an 2.4GHz AP. Suddenly stopped working.

But still acessible via ether or serial console, accepting commands & config.

I gave up of this board, left it around. Installed V 4.5 at this time.

Now reading the forum I decided to power it up again - and - PCI functions are back. For how long, I don’t know. I’m afraid to put it back in service.

Hi,
Same problem with a lot of RB411R… don’t recognize onboard radio, if I try to disconnect and reconnect the power maybe sometime work fine but at next reboot “POOF!!” the radio card disappears…
Tried with 4.5, 4.10, 4.11 and 5.0 beta 6 Fw…

Suggestions?

Tnx
Paolo

You really didn’t power on the radio without connected antenna? Your wireless card may be damaged. also try with 12 and 24V PSU

We have same problem with rb411ar. We had to replace them and after few days we try it again and everything was ok. Maybe last firmware solve it, but im not sure.

We are having the same problem. We deployed 5 units as mesh nodes with a R52N for the Mesh and used the on board for the local AP. The on board hardware randomly vanishes and requires a power cycle to get it back. This really looks like a hardware design issue to me since I am not the only one having the problem. Firmware rev does not seem to matter. It happened under 4.5 and 4.10

  1. Upgrade the bootloader (run command “/system routerboard upgrade”)
  2. Make sure you are using 24V power adapter. Smaller voltage PSU can cause similar issues.

Confirming on a freshly delivered RB411UAHR (I saw this post prior to ordering, but I was hoping I wouldn’t be this unlucky)

RouterOS: 4.11
Bootloader: 2.27 (was running 2.23 when the wireless interface originally disappeared)

  • Soft reboots and shutdown/power up sequences have failed to have it detected correctly.
  • System → Resources → PCI shows: 00:11.0 | Atheros Communications, Inc. | unknown device (rev:1)

I have created a supout.rif file but don’t really know what to do with it, happy to send it to an appropriate contact @ MikroTik

These are two prototype units I am evaluating for potential use in a 30-40 AP RF network.

  1. Make sure you are using 24V power adapter. Smaller voltage PSU can cause similar issues.

I am running on 18 volt power supplies rather than 24 and was having the issue until I did what Normis suggested and updated the bootloader. I am still using the 18 volt supplies but have not had the issue since updating the bootloader.

We have similar problem with rb411AR, the built in radio disappears sometimes.
It is very random once there is radio after bootup once not.
It has 4.11 OS but with 4.5,4.9,410 it was the same.
We have tried all sort of power supply the bootloader is up to date etc.

I just had one do it again. Too bad. Thought I had it with the firmware update. I suggest that this board is basically flawed.
