RB411U + MC8782V

I am trying to set up a RB411U (routeros 4.5) with a Sierra Wireless MC8792V HSPA modem, with not much luck.
With any other type of 3G USB modem (Huawei E220, Huawei E1550 and Vodafone 3520) a successful connection is created on edge as well as umts, everytime.

With the MC8792 a connection is established on an edge network, but the routerboard is unbelievably sluggish.
Also tried to do a ping request to an external ip, no luck.

I don’t know if I should attach the supout file, but it is handy, should it be needed.

Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.

Try RouterOS v5.0beta2 as that version has newer drivers for 3g modems.

Hi, thanks for the quick reply
I upgraded to 5beta2 but the results are the same.

I played around with default gateway, added a new manual route, but still no luck.

Oh, and before I forget, I swapped the modem (MC8792V) out for a replacement and according to the supplier the modems are in 100% working condition.

I have no idea what I’m missing.

I have the same problem.
My sierra MC8792 modem makes the board very slow and it wont connect,

I plugged some random usb 3g modem in and i worked no problem at all.

I think that there might be a problem with the sierra MC8792 (they not on the list of compatible hardware) but the shop that sold it to me only sells these ones and they say fro RB411U.

Its a really irritating problem.

Also the sierra uses 7 channels whereas most modems use 2 or 3, so i dont know what channel to put for data and info under ppp?

PLEASE let me know if u sorted out the problem???

try to use the latest RouterOS v5.x and check if you can upgrade the 3g cards firmware to the newest one.

ROS upgrade, didnt change any thing,

Will try get a newer firmware.
