RB433 - Connection Problems with Ethernet Adapter

I have a RB433 which is giving me some trouble. We had a minor thunderstorm the other day and I did manage to unplug the power source from the Wall socket. I did forget to unplug the RJ45 cables though.

Scenario Explanation:

  1. RB Boots up through POE unit successfully
  2. When connecting the “Data In” port of the POE unit onto my Nettop’s Ethernet Adapter, it does not confirm that a cable has been plugged in
    (Can’t connect to Winbox)
  3. Remove “Data In” Cable from Nettop’s Ethernet port and plug into NetGear DGN2200M DSL Router
  4. Plug a LAN Cable from NetGear router directly onto Nettop’s Ethernet Port
  5. Able to connect to Winbox and work without any issues

Other Information:
I Use Static IP’s
I’ve plugged the “Data In” cable onto a different PC with the same results
I’ve used a different Fly-lead as a subsitute for the “Data In” cable
Uninstalled and Re-Installed Adapter
Tried another POE Supply

Any ideas as to why this would happen? I find it very strange that the connection to the Winbox works fine when using a DSL router as a medium.

Double-check the IP settings of both the RB and your Nettop: make sure that both are (still) static and on the same subnet. If either has switched to use DHCP, you might be able to connect with WInbox via MAC, but not by IP, without a DHCP server like the NetGear.
