RB433AH crashes with "kernel failure" with 2x R52nM Radios

Hello,

I sincerely hope someone can provide us with an answer… We are busy doing a big upgrade, and we are using multiple RB433AH routerboards with no more than 2x R52nM radios. These boards came out with OS v. 4.10

As soon as the board boots up, and you configure 1 radio, the board reboots… The log file then tells you after that “router rebooted due to kernal failure”.

If I attach the serial cable and view from a terminal screen, I get a whole lot of gibberish of what is going wrong:

Rebooting in 1 seconds..

Please can someone help us with this? We even loaded the latest OS on and it till does it. It works fine with only ONE radio…

Please upgrade to RouterOS v5.0beta6 or wait for v4.12.

Thanks for the reply…

Is this wise? I mean, this is a very important set of links that we are setting up, surely we need a stable OS to run with, what garuantee do we have that this would be the solution?

Allthough I have dicovered something TOTALLY wierd… I got the board working now, by simply changing one of the radios. Its like the board doesn’t like a certain combination, allthough ALL the radios are new, and Identicle. This is not the only board that does this. I have tested 2 other boards too, and same result. The “faulty” radio then works fine with another radio in another board… WIERD!

Guess I need to swop and change radios until the boards are happy… Not cool. So, does it sound like a OS issue?? But why would all the previous OS’s have this too? Please, I need clarity on this, this is causing alot of problems for us techies that install.

Update:

Loaded OS5 Beta 6 onto the board, put both original radios back, and its running smoothly now…

I will test it futher and post my findings here, but atleast it doenst seem to reboot anymore…

Thanks…
