Hello,
I have an RB450 that I can’t seem to get it to respond to anything except displaying things through serial.
I have an ethernet cable plugged into my laptop and then into Eth1 of the RB450.
I have a serial cable from my laptop to the RB450.
I have Netinstall running on my computer.
I enabled Net booting and gave the client IP of 192.168.88.1 (my PC is currently static at 192.168.88.25. The one I’m using is off the Internet and not connected to any other networks, and cannot be due to the nature of the data stored on it. I’m using these in a lab environment for testing)
I am putty’d into the RB450.
So, I’ve tried holding the reset button next to the power input and while plugging it in, continuing to hold the reset button to see if anything populates within Netinstall, but it never does. I’ve held it for a max of 2 minutes and still nothing.
When I view it in Putty, it cycles through “Kernel not found” then tries BootP and fails and continues. I can hit a key and get into the menu. I’ve tried reverting to a backup with no go. I’ve tried resetting the booter, still nothing. I’ve even XMODEM’d over the latest firmware file, which the router happily accepted, but I still get the display of kernel not found.
I’m at a loss. How do I get this RouterOS software 6.38.1 onto the RB450 to try and raise it from the dead?
