RB450 no serial console on boot (can't restore routeros)

Hello,

I had a routerboard 450 working fine, but there was some problem updating the firmware, and now the RB can’t boot.

If I press the RESET button, I can’t see anything in the serial console (using minicom in linux). I can’t enter in the boot menu because I see nothing.

The serial cable is tested with other routers and works OK, it’s the serial cable I use to configure all devices in the network.

I have tried to use netinstall while booting and pressing RESET, the output says:

How can I reinstall routeros without serial console? If you need more info, please ask me.

Thanks in advance.

Stick serial cable to RB,open some terminal program on PC. Push and hold RESET button and then turn on power.

Ok, I have done that, used Netinstall to load routeros-mipsbe-4.6.npk, all operatios OK

I reboot the RB450 and it shows:

Press any key within 2 seconds to enter setup…
loading kernel from nand… OK
setting up elf image…

and no more, for 5 minutes… I readed the mikrotik wiki and I don’t know if this situation is normal..

Thanks.

Solved.

The boot firmware was corrupted I think.

I upgraded the firmware with minicom+xmodem and now the board boots fine.

Thanks.
