RB450G and Metarouter OpenWRT

Hello Folks!

I am trying to get OpenWRT working in RB450G.
I manage to follow the import image descrption, that works smoothly.
OpenWRT also boot correctly and you can login.

Next problem I face is to get it up on the network, that fails fully, even when I follow the instructions.
I do only want it to have IP address of one of existing subnets in the physical world, that do not work.

I can not ping anything, not even the default gw. And where does the bridge address 192.168.0.1 come from, we do have that subnet in RB450G already, yet it appairs inside the OpenWRT on one interface ??

Well, apart from that little issue, OpenWRT console become unavailable after some minutes,
The restart/stop button does not seems to work either, you need to disable the instance and enable it.

What am I doing wrong ?

Thank you in advance!

have you configured the network interface inside openwrt correctly?

Anyway, even if you get it to work, metarouter on all MIPS based mikrotiks is very unstable.

Looooooong story. Mikrotik devs can’t fix it for it seems like years.

Is the PPC based devices more stable, I would like to use the small nice MT devices for other light services than just routing and firewall to save space and power.

Is it possible to make own programs and add in RouterOS, exept script then ?

it is not possible to add programs to RouterOS, you can run them in guest OpenWRT or similar.

PPC metarouter is more stable, however there are some problems for few users.

And it seems to be supported by RB800 and RB1000 series only.
I have a bounch of RB600 and RB333.
Seems like I have to find another small tiny box for light services, anyone who know such box ?

guruplug?

Guruplug, yes an alternative bu tnot to attraktive for me where I am situated, they will be expencive here in Sweden with shipping and all added on top of sale price, will give prices close to 2000SEK.

I would just love to be able using MT devices, they have all nesesary hardware inside and is widely available.

Why not something natively openwrt compatible?
