Hi,
We have bought RB450G Level 5 from alink4.com in Bulgaria.
After we have started using the devise and it is in use for about 30 minutes it starts to restart automatically.
We have installed v 5.24 of the software and we have noticed that there are over 22% bad sectors which persist after NAND format as seen on the picture:
Could you please advise on how to troubleshoot and whether the 22.3% bad sectors could be causing it?
Also is there a way we could prove to the reseller that there is a hardware problem as they do not seem to be understanding and continue to say that the device is fine?
Hi,
Thank you for your response. According to that article:
“! If more than a 100 bad blocks (more than 5% in new versions) should develop in the NAND chip of a RouterBOARD device, you should try to reinstall RouterOS with Netinstall, and it will reduce the number of bad blocks”
Normal behaviour is considered upto 5% of bad blocks and we have over 22% provided that the devise is brand new and was only used for 2 hours.
Do you have any other suggestions? Should I look for a MikroTik hardware specialist to change the NAND?
Also do you know what is MikroTik’s policy in cases where the local Reseller does not want to honor the warranty and we end up in a situation like this?
I have contacted support@mikrotik.com with the problem and they have advised me to do the following after I have sent them the support file:
system routerboard upgrade
sy rou set set cpu-frequency=680MHz
I have not been able to run the second command though because the router constantly reboots. Support advised me to connect via a serial cable and try running the command from there.
So I am waiting to receive the serial cable and I will see if that fixes it.
