When trying to discover the RB device (patched into my DHCP Router) with my laptop (wireless connection to the same router) it will not find it. Click the (…) button and nothing.
When I unplug the patch cable from the RB device then plug it back in, Winbox then discovers the MAC. But, when I try to connect to its interface, the “connecting to port xxxxx” box pops up then goes away. Then, another box pops up saying “connecting on port 80” … it then gives me an error and obviously does not connect.
I’m able to find the RouterBoard IP from the DHCP list on my router and it is pingable at all times. I’ve turned off all firewalls on my laptop and tried connecting the laptop directly to the DHCP router via a patch cable.
Am I doing something wrong? Can I connect using only a cat5 cable between the two?
If router still has default configuration then, ether1 is configured as WAN port and does not accept any connections to the router. Plug the cable in ether2 to ether5 then you will be able to connect.
So, I hit the reset button on the device before I posted my question on here … Does that mean I have to reinstall the OS to the router? Because none of the ports are working when plugged in.
It’s funny seeing this as I learned this the hard way…two days to figured it out. The best thing that happen during this time, I got Winbox MacOS…sweet!
Op, even if you reset, you should not need to reinstall the OS. Not sure what mean none of the ports are working!
I mean, plugging the cat5 into eth2 thru eth5 … Winbox will not find my RB450G.
What would cause the device to appear right after being plugged in, then disappear when I try to connect with winbox?
I can’t figure out whats going on here … getting frustrated!
