RB450G goes back to old configuration after reboot

This is a weird one.

So brand new RB450G. Take out its box and allow it to boot up and set itself to the default config from the in built script. After this I upgrade to v6rc5 and then restore from .backup file from another RB450 I have as a good starting point/template for initial config. I then just change the bits needed for each deployment.

So after config (Safe Mode off) I move the RB450 to its new home in the comms area and power up.

After a lot of head scratching I realize that it gone back to the configuration from the config file. So I redid the config and delete the template file, and then make new backup file. Reboot from within WinBox, and to my total surprise its back to the config from the template.

Has anybody any clue what might be going on? Why would it go back to and old configuration?

I really need to find a way to store the current config - if the power goes off I’ll have a 4hr drive to go reset it. Looked for commands that might do this but cant find any other than the backup/restore commands.

Some other information. I screwed up the first config and couldn’t access the device properly so had to reset it with the button. After that I just restored from the template file and made my changes. Cant think why that might have any effect of its ability to save its current config.

Thanks in advance.

This is a confirmed bug in 6.0RC5 (and I think 5.22 - cant find post from normis where this is confirmed)

It is fixed in beta 6.0RC6 so maybe ask support for that image if you dont already have access.

Alexander

Thanks for the quick reply.

Is this the post? http://forum.mikrotik.com/t/using-restore-switches-rb2100-from-ap-to-cpe/62060/3

I have an RB450 here on v6rc5, so I tried making some changes and rebooting - the changes I made persisted.

I daren’t reboot the remote RB450 until I can be sure its settings will stick. I got v6rc6 ready - does the update process do anything that might help?

I found a nice easy solution to this. Psted the details on this thread:
