RB450G runs at a constant 65C with close to no load!

Hi,

Title says it all - got this unit from roc-noc 2 months ago: http://www.roc-noc.com/product.php?productid=177
I just started paying attention at all the bells and whistles on this one and found out about the high temp.

Running routerOS 4.10.

The casing isn’t hot, nor does the router crash.

Is anybody else seeing such high temps ?

Thanks

It’s normal, it can get quite hot. Does it have a radiator on the CPU (look in the case)?

yes, it does have a radiator (see attached pic)

It took the case off and lost 10C: 65C → 55C

how high can it safely get ?

thanks

FWIW We began shipping our assembled RB450 and RB450G products with 12vdc power supplies on June 1st. We found that they run pretty warm with a 24vdc supply and much cooler with 12vdc. My belief is that cooler boards should last longer.

Contact me offline if you want to trade out the supply.

Many thanks,

Tom

PS We still ship 24vdc supplies with most other models as they seem to run cooler.

Hi Tom,

I’d love to try a 24V DC, seems like even with the open cover and almost idle i get 55C.

Tried to call you on your 1-888 number but got busy tones multiple times - could you contact me at pirlouit@gmail.com ?

thank you
