RB450G, Strange serial port trouble. It used to connect ok

I have had strange problems getting a solid connection to my RB450G. I previously was able to connect without trouble. I made sure my connections are correct and they haven’t changed.

I have tried connecting with picocom, which wouldn’t establish a connection.

I also have used minicom, which after a long delay would slowly print lines. But i was unable to use the interface, and it had problems with new line characters. The latency was also extremely severe.

Do I need an RMA, is my cable gone bad? I used to connect with both picocom and minicom, without incident. I connected on the same computer, so I’m not sure what could have happened.

Any help is appreciated.

I’m going to get a new cable, and if i’m still not connecting I will RMA.

I have never got minicom to work properly, but HyperTerminal in Windows always works perfectly.

I was able to fix my serial problem, apparently it was caused by cable failure.
After using a new Null Modem cable, I successfully connected via picocom.
